SIG Environmental Strategy 2006

At this time the Rio Grande Valley Council, Inc. is working on its environmental strategy that will focus on passing an ordinance prohibiting smoking in public restaurants in the City Of Pharr. The ordinance would focus on restaurants that serve 80% food and 20% drinks. At this time the Rio Grande Valley Council, Inc. is focusing on assessing the community readiness and assessing the needs of the community. Surveys have been conducted in the business community with a good response. Letters will be sent to Pharr City Council Members and Pharr Commission Members to invite them to join the effort in providing a smoke-free establishment to all patrons.
