The UNIDAD Coalition provides communities in Hidalgo County with opportunities to participate and collaborate to increase awareness of facts and consequences related to underage and binge drinking among youth and young adults.

This is accomplished through

 Needs Assessment – the coalition gathers data related to and surveys community needs and risks that interfere with the health development of individuals and the community

 Presentations/Trainings – the coalition provides presentations and training opportunities for youth, young adults, adults, students, and professionals

 Environmental Strategies – the coalition produces media campaigns raising awareness about underage drinking, binge drinking, and related issues

 Collaboration/Networking – the coalition hosts networking opportunities and engages community partners in collaborative projects such as youth and parent retreats, conferences, and alternative activities

 Dissemination of Information – information related to alcohol use among teens, binge drinking, alcopops, alcohol related motor vehicle crashes and other related information is distributed through participation in health fairs, community events, social networking sites, blogs, and media
